The position's primary purpose is to serve as Secretary to the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer at Base Galveston. This person will be responsible for a variety of administrative and office automation duties that are auxiliary to the work of the organization. The position is the principal administrative assistant in the office, providing administrative assistance to the command staff. Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include Maintaining subject matter files and records that relate to the work of the unit. Receiving visitors and telephone calls to the office, scheduling appointments and making arrangements for time, participants, and location of meetings in accordance with instructions. Responding to routine and non-technical request for information such as status of reports and compliance information regarding case files. Performing a variety of administrative support duties such as making travel arrangements, making arrangements for conferences, composing complex but non-technical correspondence. Reviewing incoming mail to determine which items should be brought to the attention of the Commanding Officer. Performing the full range of procedural work of the office and providing office automation support utilizing knowledge of office automation hardware and software systems. Producing a variety of documents using word processing software, working from handwritten drafts, edited copies, or electronic files. To Qualify for the GS-07:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:
preparing correspondence and other documents in proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format; receiving visitors, maintaining files, incoming correspondence, typographical errors; scheduling supervisor's activities, composing correspondence, resolving problems, locating information, organizing workflow of office.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
