Overview:
The Communications Coordinator will establish a strategy and communication plan for the health, growth and development of the congregation.
Their role will ensure that every facet of the church and the overall vision/mission of the church is being communicated.
Expected outcomes 1.
To standardize messaging across platforms:
online, print and in person.
2.
To create branding and style guidelines and create messaging to keep with them.
3.
To consistently update and monitor the church's website, app and social media accounts.
4.
To inform the greater community about the services and ministries the congregation offers.
5.
To help the congregation see and celebrate the work God is doing in our midst.
6.
To provide people with points of contact to the congregation through the week.
7.
To effectively communicate with those inside and outside the congregation.
8.
To capture events of the congregation through photography and video.
OVERVIEW OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Social Media (35%):
Create a digital presence that exemplifies our mission and vision.
Strategize and manage social media calendar.
Create social media content, including graphic designs and language that tells the story of First Lutheran Church.
Participate in appropriate social media trends and themes to further the reach of the church.
Ensure that First Lutheran Church stays current and relevant with how and what we use for social media.
Participate in social media forums on behalf of First Lutheran Church.
And, other duties as required.
Churchwide Communications (35%):
Oversee all communications within and outside the church.
This includes both leading all churchwide communications and partnering with Ministry Leaders to ensure their events/initiatives are communicated strategically and in line with the organizational brand.
Plan and implement a churchwide communications strategy, including social media, email marketing, printed materials, digital ads, and.
Consult with ministry leaders and groups with web page updates, blogs and the use of other social media, as required.
Organize and direct promotional events.
Make sure that all promotional and marketing materials meet the congregation's brand identity strategy.
Identify and resolve any issues with promotional content in a timely and professional manner.
Serve as point of contact for media and public questions.
Assess and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies.
Maintain weekly updates on different social media platforms Sermon/Presentation Archive on Youtube Help develop a Message Podcast Online publications Advertisements.
Other communication initiatives, as required.
Website and App (15%):
Ensure church website and app is up to date, accurate, and fully functioning.
Create strategy to maximize those platforms.
Perform a monthly comb-through for maintenance purposes.
Oversee general website content and maintenance and, when necessary, the construction of the new site.
And, other duties as assigned.
Creative Developments (15%):
Work with the staff to brainstorm and envision ways to communicate best with our families and community.
Bring creative ideas and strategies for communications, ensuring projects are on task in a timely manner.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Shared values with First Lutheran Church's culture.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage a number of varied tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Be able to communicate clearly and with sound judgement and proven ability to write well in way that is both engaging and compelling.
Possess a solid understanding of effective marketing techniques.
Proficiency with Canva and other apps/software tools.
Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Minimum of 3-5 years in a similar position.
Ability to efficiently illustrate a proven track record in other settings.
High school diploma required.
