5K - $64K a year 14 days ago 14 days ago 14 days ago Board Operator The Board Operator is responsible for the safe and optimal operation and control of the Crude Processing plant equipment.
This position requires daily trouble shooting, handling control equipment problems, and requires sound decision making based on operating guidelines, procedures, and principles, while working in accordance with Texas International Refining, LLC's Safe Work Practices.
The Board Operator will be required to maintain all products to specification and expected to apply demonstrated technology, understand process chemistry, and utilize sound technology.
This person will be responsible for the execution of daily business instructions that are provided by Management.
Roles:
Operates the following types of processes and equipment:
DCS systems, HMIs, compressors, pumps, distillation towers, tank farm, process water treatment, flare system, storm sewer system, heaters, and boilers.
Collects samples at various stages in the process and correlates sample analysis with observations of equipment performance and instrument readings.
Maintains logs on readings, production rates, and equipment conditions.
Performs start-ups, shutdowns, and adjusts controls both manually and electronically to regulate flows, temperatures, levels, and pressures of process streams at the desired condition.
Initiates and participates in troubleshooting activities to resolve current problems and to prevent re-occurrences.
Prepares equipment and process for maintenance LOTO.
Assists in the development and modification of operating procedures.
Supports and contributes to the implementation of the HSSE management system.
Performs some DCS functions.
Required to participate in the site emergency response teams including firefighting duties.
Performs some maintenance and preventive maintenance duties.
Maintains good housekeeping practices.
Performs other duties as required.
Responsibilities:
Ensure daily business instructions issued by Shift Lead / Superintendent, as completed.
Make good operator rounds and record data.
Ensure products meet the specified quality parameters.
Ensure all effluent streams meet the specified quality parameters.
Monitor unit operations and troubleshoot process problems.
Make sound decisions based on operating guidelines and principles.
Lead safety inspections in area of responsibility.
Execute safe work practices.
Identification and correction of any unsafe work practice.
Knowledge of Safe Work Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Permits.
Complete unit HESS and Process Safety Checks.
Work with Maintenance and Engineering for the execution of various maintenance tasks.
Tasked with training new operators.
Must qualify and be sufficient in all process areas.
Requirements Solid foundation of knowledge regarding operational units and expected to utilize this knowledge during urgent process conditions and emergency situations.

Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Word & Excel.
Experience working with DCS.
Required minimum of 4 years' full-time practical experience in a console process operations role AND/OR have a 2-year Process Technology Degree

Inside Operations:
Board Operations Monitor all process parameters, temperature, flow, pressure and level readings, alarms, or other indicators to verify conformity of process conditions.
Monitor instruments to ensure proper production specifications.
Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, without supervisory personnel.
Control the Crude Processing Unit using the Delta V control system.
Coordination operations with outside operators.
Ensure the process is always safe.
Record operating data, such as process conditions, test results, or instrument readings in the Board Round sheets.
Record Production, Shift Change Over, and operations concerns & issues operations logbook.
Outside Operations:
Process Unit Operation of plant equipment (pumps, compressors, valves, heaters, boilers etc.
).
Regular monitoring of plant conditions via field inspection.
Perform routine unit operational tasks including product sampling and testing.
Make routine rounds of designated areas of the plant; make observations in unit for any equipment issues or abnormal conditions that may create hazards or inefficiencies.
Record in shift rounds sheets.
Maintain operations logs including equipment performance and instrument readings.
Perform routine daily minor maintenance and preventative maintenance activities.
Work with plant staff to optimize production and troubleshoot Unit Operations and equipment.
Safe isolation and preparation of equipment for operations, maintenance, and project activities.
Generate work requests for required maintenance items.
Use of PC to access various programs as well as input plant data.
Physical Demands Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Work in all types of weather conditions.
Be able to climb ladders.
Be able to work at elevations of 100 feet.
Prolonged periods of standing.
Be able to work in dusty conditions.
Must be able to wear respirators.
Operations will work the rotating 12-hour shift schedule (DuPont schedule).

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
