Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs program coordination; assists and implements adult and youth activities.
Register new members; prints membership cards; makes facility reservations; answers phone calls regarding recreation programs and services.
Performs customer service; answers questions; conducts facility tours; provides assistance regarding the use of facility equipment; responds to complaints from participants.
Provides work direction and training to seasonal and part-time staff.
Performs marketing; creates flyers to promote programs and services; advises the public regarding program/service changes or closures.
Performs general office duties, including filing, copying and reports preparation.
Assists with overseeing functions of the pocket park; ensures transactions are conducted in accordance with established policies.
Conducts general cleaning of the facility.
Supports the relationship between the City of Galveston and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Employees may at any time be required to work in order to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services, in the event of an emergency.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge:
City organization, operations, policies, and procedures.
Principles and practices of recreational programing and promotion.
Fitness equipment use.
City codes and ordinances.
Business and personal computers, and spreadsheet software applications.
Skill in:
Handling situations requiring diplomacy, fairness, firmness and sound judgment.
Providing efficient customer service.
Understanding and applying City policies and procedures.
Explaining City policies and procedures.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with all levels within the City.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Recreation Administration or a closely related field; AND two years experience in recreation operations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
Possession of a valid Texas Drivers license.
CPR.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in an indoor work environment with some exposure to an outdoor work environment.
May be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
May be required to climb ladders.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
