What we want The Administrative Coordinator II works under general supervision and provides administrative support and specialized activity to include the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matter of significance for the Texas A&M Maritime Academy.
Sails with the training ship during sea terms as the ship's Purser and assists with various administrative tasks throughout the year with the ship operations department.

00 monthly Physical Requirements:
Must pass a USCG physical form 719K in order to maintain licensure.
Ability to lift or move heavy objects.
Other Requirements and Factors:
This is a shipboard assignment onboard our training vessel; you will be required to travel with the vessel during vessel activations and sea terms - approximately 30-40 percent of year.
Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.
Must pass a Unites States Coast Guard (USCG)/Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test prior to employment and participate in the University's random drug testing program.
Required Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of experience in office administration.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Must have a State issued class C vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Must have a passport, TWIC card and Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC) or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire or before the training ship sails.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other various basic computer programs.
Ability to sail on all sea terms with the training ship.
Responsibilities:
Training Ship's Purser - Responsible for oversight and coordination of shipboard administrative support while embarked on sea terms to include ships personnel manifest, telephone directory, port entry documents, and publication of the plan of the day.
Serves as a member of the training ship crew during sea terms or other times as needed and travels with the ship on sea terms for up to several consecutive months acting as the business representative and liaison with shore side business support.
Assists customs and immigration officials with passports and additional documents.
Participates in emergency drills as assigned.
Responds to routine and non-routine information requests.
Reports to the Master of the Training ship to create, monitor, and evaluate ship office procedures and communicates these to the crew.
Assists the master with administrative records of the safety management system.
Completes embarkation and disembarkation documents for embarked persons.
Unit Administrative Support - Coordinates routine administrative activities and maintenance of files.
Assists in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring administrative programs or services.
Composes correspondence.
Assists with administration of unit, program, or project.
Uses departmental vehicles to purchase supplies and/or route visitors and crew members.
Makes recommendations when appropriate for process improvements, administrative changes or new initiatives.
Supports internal and external departmental communications.
Performs advanced word processing, desktop publishing, presentation, and data management including maintaining or creating material for department website.
Assists business office with ship's purchasing.
Special projects - Assists Deputy Superintendent with special administrative projects throughout the year.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
