Summary:
Assist the Director of the Front Desk in managing and supervising the operational activities of the hotel's front desk within corporate and hotel guidelines to provide the highest standards of courteous service while permitting acceptable profit levels.
Act as Front Desk Manager in the absence of said individual.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.
The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
Review VIP reservations, amenity orders, and resumes for incoming and in house guests.
Update the computer system Monitor the inventory to ensure groups and special blocks are handled correctly Communicate with other departments to ensure proper handling of guests and groups Perform front desk duties Handle cash, make change and balance assigned bank Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff Observe performance and encourage improvement of staff Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a four-year college or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities At least one year of front desk management experience required REQUIRED SKILLS:
Must be reliable and responsible CPR Certification and/or First Aid training preferred.
Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate Ability to deal with guests, some of which will require a large amount of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and resolve conflicts Basic math skills Ability to listen and speak effectively in English PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform tasks that require bending, stooping, reaching overhead, and moving through guest floors Ability to remain on feet for majority of shift Ability to lift up to 15 pounds Review VIP reservations, amenity orders, and resumes for incoming and in house guests.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
