Operate response vessels while deploying, retrieving, and working with oil containment boom and various other pieces of equipment.
Ensure response resource readiness for actual emergency responses as well as for Federal, State, and Company internal drills.

Responsibilities:
Work safely and obey Safety Management System / Programs and Company / Client Safety Standards.
Maintains vessel in accordance with ABS and USCG regulations.
Assist with periodic routine ABS and USCG inspections and surveys.
Actively participate in all training and drills.
Ensure safety of crew, equipment, visitors, and vessel at all times.
Ensure vessel is maintained in a state of readiness for Spill and Emergency Response, Maintain vessel and spill response equipment in good working order.
Perform and/or supervise on-board maintenance with various pneumatic and electric power tools.
Operate crane for deployment / retrieval of oil recovery equipment, boom tenders and vessel supplies.
Supervise air monitoring and entry of Confined Spaces such as Ballast, Recovered Oil or Cargo Tanks and Voids.
Ensure that vessel is clean, orderly, and stocked with adequate supplies and spare parts at all times.
Record all fuel, oil, water, cargo, supplies, trash, and ballast loaded or discharged from the vessel.
Complete and distribute Monthly and Quarterly maintenance and reports which include, but are not limited to; Vessel and Equipment reports, Qualified Individual report, Emergency Procedures report and Vessel General Permit reports.
Record all personnel boarding the vessel and prepare documents each time the vessel changes location.
Demonstrate proficiency in response vessel operations which include vessel containment booming, protection booming, open water booming/ containment, skimming vessel operations, skimmer operations, and small boat handing.
Other duties as needed / assigned.
Qualifications:
A valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential as Master 100 Ton (GRT) (Near Coastal) with Radar Observer endorsement.
Personnel assigned to a vessel with International Load Line Certificate should possess at minimum a USCG Merchant Mariner Credential as Master of 500 Ton ITC with endorsements for Oceans and Radar Observer Merchant Mariner Credential minimum rating as Ordinary Seaman; with endorsements for Survival Craft and Tankerman PIC recommended At least (4) years of sea service on Offshore Supply Boat, Small Passenger Vessels, Oil Recovery vessels, Towing Vessels and/or Tank Barges.
At least one year sea time must be in service sailing as Master on vessels greater than 85 gross tons.
Must be familiar with oil transfer procedures.
Possess or obtain at company expense 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification and maintain current 8-hour annual refresher certification.
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License, Passport and valid TWIC Possess or obtain at company expense Confined Space Entry, Attendant and Rescue certification.
Possess or obtain at company expense - API Rigger and Hydraulic Crane Operator certificates Employee will routinely travel out of town on short notice and live on board ship for extended periods of time.
Possess, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED.
