LVN - Texas City / Galveston Community Based Outpatient Clinic

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing care to veterans at the Texas City / Galveston Community Based Outpatient Clinic.
The incumbent has the knowledge and skills necessary for concentrated efforts and self-direction in carrying out the most complex practical nursing care assignment with the patients ranging in age from young adulthood to the senior years of life.
The incumbent will assess and provide treatment to general medical patients.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Provide care to Veterans requiring complex practical nursing care.
Performs telehealth imaging, including tele-retinal screening, tele-dermatology, tele wound care and other telehealth programming as technology becomes available.
Perform patient screening and preventive therapy as prescribed by Clinical Practice Guidelines and through the use of the Clinical Reminders.
Demonstrate sufficient skill to resolve a range of nursing problems.
Correctly administer medications (including intravenous fluids) according to MEDVAMC policy and Therapeutic Methods.
Document records and reports.
Provide nursing support to specialty providers with sufficient knowledge to properly assist in minor surgical procedures, casting, splinting, ear irrigations, and urology exams with insertion and care of specialty catheters.
Provide nursing support to complex patients requiring specialty consultations in the local clinic setting for a variety of clinical services.
Provide nursing support to complex patients receiving care in the Mental Health Clinic using established guidelines to recognize patients in crisis or those requiring emergent interventions.
Technically proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:
30 am - 4:
00pm or 8:
00am- 4:
30pm (with some extended hours and some Saturdays) Relocation expenses and/or incentives are not authorized.
DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION:
Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
